Hammock Camping Experience

Dates – Coming soon!

Cost – £100

Duration – one night

Accommodation – Woodland Campsite

Distance – none!

Location – TBC

Imagine lying in your snug cocoon, gazing up at the stars through the trees. The breeze whispers through the leaves and your hammock rocks gently as you drift off to sleep. Imagine the owls you’ll hear if you wake in the night and the first soft rays of the new dawn, warming you as you snooze. Imagine the smell of coffee drifting through the woods and the immense satisfaction of having tried something new.

Our hammocks are comfortable – each one has an ‘underquilt’ that hangs beneath the hammock to keep you warm and a tarp to keep the Great British weather off. If the forecast is for a fine dry night you could even fold your tarp back for a better view of the stars!

We can make your hammocking dreams come true, providing all the technical kit and support you need – all you need to bring is your sleeping bag!

Trip Overview

This is a one-night micro adventure – we will gather at the woodland campsite in the late afternoon with plenty of time to learn to pitch the hammocks before enjoying a picnic tea. Your trip leader will show you the ropes (and straps!) and help you get the perfect hang for your hammock.

We’ve spent ages designing a hammock and tarp set-up that is knot-free and easy to pitch so that you can relax and enjoy your night out under the stars. Each hammock has a tarp to keep any rain or dew off your hammock and sleeping bag. We are in the UK after all! After a picnic supper, it will be time to snuggle into your hammock and relax beneath the night sky. If you struggle to sleep at first because of the unfamiliarity of being outside remember to relax and enjoy the experience. Hanging in a hammock IS profoundly relaxing, and reading a book in the woods at midnight is an epic adventure!

Itinary

Late afternoon –Arrival at the woodland campsite. Your trip leader will show you around the site and demonstrate how to choose a spot for your hammock and how to hang it. Then it’s time to head to your chosen spot and have a go! Your trip leader will always be on hand to help and advise (if you need it) and will check each hammock before it gets dark. You’ll have some time to practice getting in and out (it’s not hard once you know how) and to lie back and experience what it’s like being in the hammock.

Evening –with the hammocks pitched its time to enjoy being in the woods, with a picnic dinner before gathering together for an evening of storytelling.

Morning – Time for coffee (tea/hot chocolate etc) and breakfast in the woods. Cross your fingers for a beautiful dawn (which you can sleep through if you wish – there’s no rush here!). Then it’s time to take down and pack up the hammocks before heading home a little after 10 am.
